There are four ways into this work: as a farm with produce it cannot sell, as a student joining a chapter at your school, as a school that wants a chapter, or as a food bank that collects.

A farm that says yes gets the contact of an organization that collects, free, with its own vehicle. Students hold named roles: Chapter Lead, Deputy Lead, Outreach Editor, List Builder, Follow-up Clerk or Records and Hours Clerk. A school hosts a chapter as one of its own clubs, with the principal’s written approval and a Teacher Advisor. Food banks confirm in writing what they can collect, and from which area.

Every route starts with one message to andrew.sun.adair@gmail.com. Say who you are and which of the four you are, and HQ will reply with the next step. Students write from their school account and copy their Teacher Advisor.

One message starts it.

One page sets out every way a person can be useful to The Neighbour’s Table, whether you grow food, study at a school, run a school, or work at a food bank.

How you can help

For growers

If you have produce that will not sell, write to us. A chapter will give you the contact of an organization that collects it, free, and you arrange the date with it directly.

For farms

For students

If your school already has a chapter, ask its Chapter Lead for the consent form. Members hold a named role and meet once a week at lunch, working the area HQ has assigned to the chapter.

The work

The Neighbour’s Table is a student-run nonprofit. Chapters at Canadian high schools ask farms one question, whether they have produce they cannot sell, and hand every yes to a food bank or food rescue organization that collects it with its own vehicle.
