The national plan

Across Canada

The founding work is in Ontario. Any eligible high school in Canada can apply.

The Neighbour’s Table is a national organization with one national kit. The founding work is in Ontario, and every new chapter runs the same way.

Canada has 189,874 farms, according to the Statistics Canada Census of Agriculture 2021. HQ assigns each chapter its own area, and the chapter builds the list of farm businesses in it and works that list. Growing the organization means adding chapters in new areas, not making any single chapter larger.

Every new chapter opens the same way: written principal approval, a Teacher Advisor, an application to HQ, and a signed Chapter Agreement.

One school at a time.

The model

A chapter opens in a school, works one area assigned by HQ, and keeps its own list of farms. Chapters do not overlap and they do not compete. The organization grows by adding chapters.

How we work

The contrast

8.8 million tonnes of edible food is wasted in Canada every year (Second Harvest and Value Chain Management International, 2024), while 24.0% of people in Canada lived in a food-insecure household in 2025, about 9.8 million people (PROOF, University of Toronto, 2026).
