How you can help

There are four ways to be useful to The Neighbour’s Table. Start with the one that fits.

Pick one, and do it.

The work needs three things: students who will hold a named role, farms willing to answer one question, and food banks that collect fresh produce with their own vehicles. Here is where you fit.

The Neighbour’s Table is a student-run nonprofit. Each chapter is a club of its own school, run by its students under a Teacher Advisor. Our work sits under UN Sustainable Development Goal 12.3, and everything on this page serves it.

Start a chapter

If you are a student and your school has no chapter, start one. Get the principal’s written approval and a Teacher Advisor first. A chapter aims for 8 to 12 students and may start with 4.

Take a named role

A chapter has six: Chapter Lead, Deputy Lead, Outreach Editor, List Builder, Follow-up Clerk and Records and Hours Clerk.

If you run a farm

If you have produce that will not sell, write to us. A chapter will give you the contact of an organization that collects it, free, and you arrange the date with it directly.

For farms

If you run a food bank

Tell us in writing which area you can collect from and what volume of fresh produce you can take. Once you confirm, chapters in that area can introduce farms to you.

For food banks

Our work

Chapters ask farms one question and hand every yes to a food bank that collects it.
