Our story so far

Where The Neighbour’s Table started, what it is now, and what follows.

Rows of onion bulbs growing in garden bed

The Neighbour’s Table is opening its first chapters. Any eligible high school in Canada can apply.

Andrew Adair is the Founder of The Neighbour’s Table. The idea was plain: farms have produce they cannot sell, food banks serve people who need it, and someone has to ask the farms. Chapters at high schools can do that asking, one assigned area at a time.

The six roles were written down so that any group of students could run a chapter properly, and the record of every farm contacted and every outcome is the thing each chapter is built on.

One school at a time.

What follows

The next part of the story is written by whoever turns up. Students, farms, schools and community organizations all have a way in, and each of them starts with one message.

Ways to help

Start here

There is a page for each kind of person who can help: students, schools, farms, and food banks. It says what happens after you write, and what it asks of you.

For farms

Growers can read what hearing from a chapter involves in about a minute: what we ask, who collects the produce, and what the farm arranges itself. Written for busy people.
