What is useful to us is people, schools and farms.

Three things move this work forward: students, schools and farms. Each is something a reader of this page can supply.

A student who joins a chapter holds a named role: Chapter Lead, Deputy Lead, Outreach Editor, List Builder, Follow-up Clerk or Records and Hours Clerk. A school that hosts a chapter gives a room at lunch and a Teacher Advisor, and the students run the session. A farm with produce it cannot sell can give the one thing nothing else can replace, the food itself, to an organization that collects it.

Telling other people what the organization does is also useful. 8.8 million tonnes of edible food is wasted in Canada every year, on Second Harvest and Value Chain Management International figures for 2024, and that number is worth repeating.

People, schools and farms.

The home page sets out what The Neighbour’s Table is, what Canada grows against what it throws away, the three UN goals the work serves, and how a chapter is run.
